BIOGRAPHY
Karine Arabian’s love for luxury materials and professional skills inherited from her grandfather (a cobbler and bootmaker) and of her father (a tailor) helped her to develop her own individual style.
Animated by the will to free herself from the classic codes within the trade she is constantly trying to express her desire to embellish and unite harmoniously the opposites in an elementary simplicity.
Her classic bases are spiced up with a touch of a rock’n'roll and luxury exposes itself without eccentricity.
From season to season, Karine takes advantage of being a woman wearing her own creations to propose a new vision of femininity, refreshing and strong at the same time.
A femininity that assumes itself tastefully and light through the choice of accessories that reveal the silhouette and personality of a woman without overpowering her.
"The point of departure of my creations often translates what I live at that very moment, and every collection teaches me something new about myself whilst taking me to the next level in my life. It is a work in progress on femininity: in my creations, I try to combine a strong aesthetic sense with female preoccupations and desires, and at the same time avoiding to be too ‘clichee’. Accessories are with us every day and they are like an extension of our body, mind and memory. With my work I try to make women prettier, more dynamic, more elegant and more self confident.”
In 2003, a very important journey takes Karine Arabian back to her origins: Armenia. There she discovers the ancestral techniques of the local craftsmen and translates them into the modern world. "Minérale", a range of unique pieces is produced in materials such as gold, precious wood and agate will be born of this collaboration. These pieces are shown for the first time in spring 2007 during the retrospective on
Karine Arabian at the Museum of Fashion in Marseilles.
